High School Dual Enrollment


Admissions Criteria

High school students may enroll for summer classes at UNO during the summer following the completion of their Sophomore year, or for dual enrollment during the fall and/or spring of their Junior and/or Senior years. Students who wish to take advantage of the dual enrollment opportunity must have completed their Sophomore year, should have an ACT composite of 23 or higher (SAT I Math + Critical Reading combined score of 1060 or greater), a high school GPA of 2.75 or better, and have a recommendation from their principal or guidance counselor.


PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS RECEIVING DUAL CREDIT

A.) For public high school students taking classes that carry both high school and college credit, the Louisiana Board of Regents offers funding. The funding covers all educational expenses (except non-mandatory fees and books). This assistance is available only during fall and spring terms. For summer sessions students are eligible for the James W. Ellis scholarship..

Along with the application the following items must be submitted to the Office of Enrollment Management:


PRIVATE/INDEPENDENT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS RECEIVING DUAL CREDIT

For students attending a private or independent high school, or who are being home schooled, that take classes carrying both high school and college credit, they may enroll at the reduced tuition cost of $300 per 3-credit class. Students may also apply for a James W. Ellis Scholarship to cover educational expenses.

PUBLIC OR PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS RECEIVING COLLEGE CREDIT ONLY.

For students either in private or public school taking classes that carry only college credit, tuition and fees are the same as for all UNO undergraduate students. Please see the following link for financial information: http://www.registrar.uno.edu/bulletin/fees.cfm. Students may apply for the James W. Ellis scholarship to cover educational expenses.

JAMES W. ELLIS SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

The scholarship covers the cost of tuition for one three-credit hour class. Additional classes and/or fees are at the expense of the student.
Students must reapply for the scholarship each semester.

To apply:
First time applicants - write a one to two page summary of your activities and achievements in narrative form.

Additional semesters - write a one to two page summary addressing your experiences and progress in the courses you have taken in narrative form. Do not send a copy of the initial summary.
